Editorial & Content Policy

Our editorial promise

We aim to make Indian transport information understandable, practical and safe without pretending to be a government authority. Every guide should tell readers what the service is, what they may need, where the official process happens and what should be verified before acting.

Purpose and scope

Parivaahan.org publishes independent explanations of driving-licence services, vehicle registration and transfer, e-Challans, road signs, road safety and related digital-service topics. Our goal is to reduce confusion, warn readers about common fraud risks and direct them to the correct official channel. We do not publish official decisions, personal status results or guaranteed outcomes.

Source hierarchy

Editors should rely on the strongest available source. We give priority to:

  1. Acts, rules, gazette notifications and other primary legal material;
  2. official national and state government portals, department notices and published manuals;
  3. official public-safety or law-enforcement guidance;
  4. reputable secondary sources used only to add context or identify an issue requiring primary-source verification.

Where a procedure varies by state, vehicle class or applicant category, the guide should state that limitation. A third-party article should not be presented as proof of an official requirement.

Research and verification

Before publication

  • Identify the intended reader and service.
  • Check key claims against current official material.
  • Verify destination domains and remove unsafe links.
  • Separate general guidance from legal requirements.
  • Review headings, steps and warnings for clarity.

After publication

  • Review high-impact guides when a process changes.
  • Investigate credible correction reports.
  • Update broken or redirected official links.
  • Remove advice that may create a safety or fraud risk.
  • Record material corrections transparently.

Writing standards

Content should be original, useful and written in plain language. A guide should avoid keyword stuffing, copied government text, exaggerated promises, fake urgency and unsupported claims such as “guaranteed approval.” Definitions and examples should improve understanding rather than artificially increase length. Titles and descriptions must accurately represent the page.

Instructions should distinguish between preparation and the final official transaction. We should never invite readers to enter an OTP, password, Aadhaar number, full licence number, bank detail or payment credential on Parivaahan.org.

Independence and conflicts

Editorial decisions should not be sold to an agent, application service, advertiser or link buyer. Payment, sponsorship, affiliate compensation or a commercial relationship must not determine a factual conclusion. If the website later publishes sponsored or affiliate material, it should carry a clear and prominent disclosure and remain subject to the same accuracy and safety standards.

Government names and visual identity

References to MoRTH, NIC, Parivahan Sewa, VAHAN, SARATHI, RTOs and state departments are descriptive. We do not claim endorsement or use official insignia to imply authority. Pages should display the independent-site notice where confusion is reasonably possible and provide a direct official link for transactional steps.

Use of automation and AI-assisted tools

Digital tools may assist with research organisation, outlines, language editing, accessibility checks or routine formatting. They must not be treated as an authoritative source. Important factual claims require source review, and published material remains subject to editorial responsibility, correction standards and the same privacy and safety rules as manually drafted content.

Images, quotations and attribution

Images should be owned, licensed, generated for the website, in the public domain or used with valid permission. They should not misleadingly depict a document, status result or government endorsement. Quotations should be limited, contextual and attributed. Official logos, screenshots and third-party marks remain the property of their owners.

User submissions

Readers may suggest corrections, but a submission is evidence to review—not authority by itself. We do not publish personal documents, private case details or allegations that cannot be responsibly verified. Contributors must not send confidential records, payment information, passwords or OTPs.

Corrections and accountability

Material errors should be corrected promptly and explained when they could have changed a reader’s decision. Minor spelling, formatting and clarity changes may be made without a notice. The complete workflow appears in our Corrections & Updates Policy. Concerns about accuracy, attribution or conflicts may be raised through the Contact Us page.
